Violinist Zach Brock (Snarky Puppy) and Pianist Henry Hey (David Bowie) present their quartet - featuring the incredible driving force of bassist Matt Brewer and drummer Jeff 'Tain' Watts. These four musicians will share an evening of original music from all four band members as well as some well loved jazz standards. Each performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to witness four of the most formidable voices in jazz come together for a thrilling night of music. Come out and enjoy the vibe!
Zach Brock (Violin): A Grammy Award-winning violinist and a key member of the chart-topping ensemble Snarky Puppy, Zach Brock has carved out a unique space in modern jazz. Called “the pre-eminent improvising violinist of his generation” by DownBeat Magazine, Brock has also performed with Stanley Clarke, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Phil Markowitz. His lyrical phrasing and adventurous compositions have made him a standout voice in contemporary music.
Henry Hey (Piano): Renowned for his versatility, Henry Hey has worked with artists ranging from David Bowie to Empire of the Sun. He was the music director for Bowie’s final theatrical project Lazarus and is co-founder of the acclaimed jazz fusion group Forq. With deep roots in jazz and pop, Hey brings sophisticated harmony, rhythmic clarity, and expressive depth to every performance.
Matt Brewer (Bass): Widely respected as one of the most versatile bassists of his generation, Matt Brewer has performed with jazz heavyweights including Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Steve Coleman, Greg Osby, and Vijay Iyer. A former member of the SFJAZZ Collective, Brewer’s agility and commanding tone have placed him at the forefront of modern jazz bass playing.
Jeff “Tain” Watts (Drums): One of the most influential drummers in jazz history, Jeff “Tain” Watts is a multi–Grammy Award winner known for his explosive energy, complex rhythms, and legendary tenure with both Wynton and Branford Marsalis. He has recorded with a long list of greats including McCoy Tyner, Betty Carter, and Michael Brecker, and recently earned Grammy wins in both 2023 and 2024 for Best Opera Recording.
